Recently, a highly successful study conducted by medical professionals regarding the ability of the electronic cigarette to help smokers quit smoking has been conducted. The study was conducted in South Africa, where about 350 heavy smokers received an electronic cigarette. The results were quite exceptional. Within 6 weeks, almost 50% of all participants had completely quit smoking and moved to the electronic cigarette.
The doctors who conducted the study took some time to analyze the electronic cigarette, to check the medical effects. They found that the electronic cigarette was much healthier than traditional cigarettes and a much better smoking alternative. Over 50% of users of the device showed a noticeable difference in their lifestyle, feeling healthier, more active and in general with more energy. Many of the respondents also achieved a better physical appearance, a consequence of increased levels of energy. Some of the respondents also stopped smoking after only 2 weeks, long before the others.

Many doctors often recommend electronic cigarettes to their patients as their first point of reference when they try to quit smoking and it is one of the few products that can work alone rather than compliment other smoking cessation products.
Another doctor, who also quit smoking after only 6 weeks of using an electronic cigarette, has validated that an average of 12 puffs from an electronic cigarette is enough to give the same amount of nicotine as a traditional cigarette. With the electronic cigarette there is no waste as in a traditional electronic cigarette, the device does not continue to burn when not used, so the nicotine is used only when the user uses it. In the course of some packets of cigarettes this amounts to considerable loss, especially if you do not smoke cigarettes particularly quickly.
It is now known that it is not the nicotine in cigarettes that harm health, instead it is tar and other carcinogens found within the tobacco to cause damage.
A completely different study was conducted several years ago, including several medical professionals and was conducted by Health Canada. This study found that the electronic cigarette was not only safe in relation to traditional cigarettes, but was safe in all measurements.
